Isolated Converter

Q: Why should I reflect my converter design to the non-isolated case?
A: So that you can determine the loop response and add the right damping.

Q: How do resistors reflect to the primary side?
A: They increase in magnitude by the amount Nsquared.

Q: How do inductors reflect to the primary side?
A: They increase in magnitude by the amount Nsquared.

Q: How do capacitors reflect to the primary side?
A: They decrease in magnitude by an amount 1/Nsquared.

Q: What about voltage and current stresses?
A: Voltages increase by a facor of N. Currents decrease by a factor of 1/N.

Q: What about power?
A: Power stays the same.

Q: What if I'm stepping up, not down?
A: N<1 works in all the formulas above!

Q: What if I would rather go out drinking than fool with this stupid stuff?
A: Don't throw up on the rug, you'll lose your security deposit....
